Esteban Nuñez is a former American student-athlete and soccer player. He played as a midfielder for the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gauchos men's soccer team and was a key player in their successful 2006 season.
Nuñez was born on July 25, 1987, in San Clemente, California, and attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. He was a standout soccer player in high school and was named the 2005 High School Player of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
After graduating from high school, Nuñez committed to playing college soccer at UCSB. In his freshman year, he made an immediate impact on the team and was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team.
In his sophomore year, Nuñez played a pivotal role in leading UCSB to the NCAA College Cup final, where they finished runners-up to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He scored four goals and provided six assists during the season, earning him All-American honors.
Nuñez continued to excel in his junior and senior years at UCSB, contributing to the team's success on the field. After college, he pursued a professional soccer career but ultimately decided to retire from the sport to focus on other ventures.
Outside of soccer, Nuñez has been involved in various business endeavors and is known for his philanthropic work in his community.
